Biography

Martin Started work as a TV repair Engineer before moving to the then South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education where he worked as General Technician in the department of electronics. He successfully worked his way through the ranks to become a PCB designer and a Senior Technician in the Department of Engineering. Following a period of Part Time study he gained his degree and developed an interest in teaching. For many years he combined the role of Technician and part time lecturer where he developed a deep interest in interactive computer based learning. This interest was formalised in the completion of a PGC Teaching in HE. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Martin has presented papers and given presentations at conferences’ both at home and abroad on the subject of the VLE and the use of Blended learning.
Martin is currently employed by CSAD as Resources Manager where his responsibilities include: the management of the Technical team and the provision of workshop and studio facilities.

Current research

Use of Animations in delivering Electronic Computer Aided Design on Virtual Learning Environment.
Member of curriculum redesign team working in conjunction with colleagues in Ceramics.
Member of the Sustainable lighting project team for Bus Stop Wales Ltd.
At a national level he represents Wales (HEPCW) as a technical representative on the National Working Party for Purchasing Electronic Components (NUWPEC) since 2003 and was elected Vice Chair in October 2006. He became Chair in 2010.
