You’ll study six units to prepare you for the rest of your chosen degree. Our curriculum is designed to boost your confidence, skills and knowledge to progress onto a degree of your choice.
You will develop transferrable skills throughout our foundation year, such as research and analysis, design and innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurial and verbal, written and visual communication.
You will be fully immersed into university life and the student community from day one. With high progression rates, we work hard to ensure every student reaches their full potential. We also offer specialist support and a range of social activities for you to enjoy.
Our Foundation Year is taught through a blend of weekly lectures, group work, workshops and seminars. You will study six modules, three will be delivered in Term 1 and three in Term 2. Each module will have 48 hours of teaching and 152 hours for self-study / independent learning time.
You will have access to course content via Moodle, the virtual learning environment, with interactive learning tools and materials to support independent learning.
You will also benefit from our personal tutoring team alongside your module leader, seminar tutors and Programme Director.
Our foundation year is assessed using a range of methods such as essays, presentations, reports, in class tests, exams, individual research projects and reflective diary.
Support is available for assessments including revision sessions, personal tutoring and skills workshops run by the Learning Centre.
You will receive a wide range of feedback on your work both verbally and in writing.

Applicants should normally possess:
- GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English Language and Mathematics or Mathematics – Numeracy at grade C / grade 4 or above
- 32 UCAS tariff points from at least 1 A level or equivalent
Candidates who do not possess normal minimum entry qualifications are considered on an individual basis by the Programme Director and may be required to attend an interview.
