Cardiff Met Artificial Intelligence (AI) Student Hub

Cardiff Metropolitan University’s AI Student Hub provides clear, practical guidance to help students understand how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used responsibly, ethically and confidently throughout their studies.

AI tools are increasingly part of how students learn, research and prepare for work. When used well, AI can support understanding, skill development and confidence. When used inappropriately, particularly in assessment, it can pose risks to academic integrity.

The Hub helps students navigate this balance by setting out what is and is not permitted, and by encouraging thoughtful, critical engagement with AI technologies.

What the Internal AI Student Hub Provides

Grounded in the University’s AI Position Statement and Guiding AI Principles, the Hub:

  • Explains the difference between using AI to support learning and using AI in assessment, reinforcing that assessment rules are set at module level and must always be checked.
  • Emphasises that students remain responsible for their own work and must not submit AI‑generated content as their own.
  • Supports students to develop AI literacy, helping them to question, evaluate and verify AI outputs rather than relying on them uncritically.
  • Provides practical guidance, examples and reflective prompts encourage students to focus on learning and understanding, not simply on producing answers.
  • Signposts students to AI tools provided by Cardiff Met, alongside AI training, employability guidance and digital skills development.
  • Highlights clear routes to support, including academic staff and technical help, reinforcing that asking questions and seeking advice is encouraged.

Overall, the AI Student Hub positions AI as a tool to enhance learning, not replace thinking, while promoting integrity, confidence and responsible use in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
