Cardiff Met works in partnership with the Students' Union (SU) to promote sustainability engagement and raise awareness of climate issues. The SU works towards continual improvement for environmental sustainability by tracking its annual progress and by attending all relevant University meetings, as confirmed in the relationship agreement and Student Charter.

SU x Sustainability Collaborations

  • The SU's 'Tiering System' rewards societies and clubs for engaging with sustainability, alongside other positive initiviatives.
  • Cardiff Met's SU works closely with Cardiff Digs, run by Cardiff Council, providing living advice to students including waste disposal.
  • As well as promoting initiatives run by Sustainability Engagement, the SU runs climate volunteering projects and events for students.
  • The SU and student societies take part in Go Green Week initiatives, organized by the Sustainability team.

Fairtrade at Cardiff Met

The Students' Union and University collaborate to achieve Cardiff Met's Fairtrade University award. As well as integrating Fairtrade into SU procurement and event policies, the SU supports and promotes all Fairtrade initiatives, attends all meetings as part of the Fairtrade steering group, and support a Fairtrade presence at the Freshers' Fair.
