Student Voice

The Students' Union has a Welsh Language Officer who represents our Welsh-speaking students. The officer is a member of the University’s Welsh committees to make sure that the voice of our students is central to all our operations.

  1. The Use of Welsh Committee:
    • Oversees the implementation and monitoring of the Welsh Language Standards
    • Ensures that our Welsh language services are accessible and of high quality
    • Helps to normalise the use of Welsh across the University

What course are you studying?

I am studying Business and Management (Finance) and in my final year.

What kind of experience have you had as a Welsh Student at Cardiff Met?

I’m having a great experience as a student at Cardiff Met. I’ve made new friends, and chatting with them has helped me develop my Welsh. As a Welsh student, I’m so grateful to the lecturers for their help and for encouraging me. The additional optional modules have helped improve my Welsh too.

What would you like to do to support Cardiff Met’s Welsh students?

My hope is to help encourage students to use the language - from new learners to native speakers. I will encourage these students to take part in events and to take advantage of the Welsh support available, to help enrich the Welsh community and improve our everyone’s skills.
