Having been a Head of Department at St Joseph's RC High School Newport for 11 years, I took on the role of PGCE Maths Programme leader in 2010. Since then I have worked with colleagues in our Partnership schools to help develop the very best new maths teachers for schools locally and nationally. Many have already taken on further leadership responsibilities within their departments, with some becoming Heads of Dept within four years of completing the PGCE Maths course at Cardiff Met.
I have built and maintained strong links with colleagues who support student teachers in school and this has helped student teachers to be effectively supported through their training so that they can make the biggest possible impact on pupil confidence and progress in maths. Maths teachers from Cardiff Met are in high demand and are making a difference on a daily basis
