Teaching

At Cardiff Met, Katherine's main teaching areas are food habits, food composition tables, professional skills, communication/teaching skills and clinical dietetics, namely diabetes.  She also oversees a number of undergraduate dissertations in nutrition and dietetics and has had some success in disseminating students' work to the wider nutrition and dietetic community as poster/abstract conference submissions, her latest successful submission being:

Katherine is a HCPC registered dietitian with many years’ experience of working in the NHS primary care setting and GP surgeries. She has a postgraduate teaching certificate in Post-compulsory Education and Training, a Masters (PoCET)and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Katherine continues to practice as a clinical dietitian with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and is based within the Therapies Outpatients department at Ysbyty Ystrad Mynach. Here, she specialises in one to one diet counselling within the outpatient setting as well as delivering the Slim for Life programme aimed at groups as part of the obesity management strategy in ABHB. She is one of the few dietitians in the UK who are involved in training student dietitians at both university and in hospital.
