My role at the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre

A commercial Board-level Marketing Director with leadership experience in retail, manufacturing, consultancy, and higher education. Confident in establishing and developing teams, leading change, delivering, and innovating in organisations of all sizes. 

As Commercial and Marketing Director at Cardiff Met University’s Food Industry Centre, I am responsible for the Marketing Team and the academic researchers in the Food and Drink Research Group. We provide consultancy to industry and deliver projects for the Welsh Government’s Food and Drink Wales.

A broad and deep understanding of the commercial, marketing and policy aspects of the food industry.

Previous Experience

Before joining the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre, I worked at Board-level in the supermarket sector (Somerfield), manufacturing (Bon Bon Buddies) and consultancy (Levercliff). Previous roles included marketing management at Tesco and McVitie’s.

My experience includes:

  • Re-launching a national supermarket brand with a new positioning, identity and advertising;
  • Launching hundreds of branded and own brand products;
  • Launching loyalty programmes in two retailers;
  • Developing and implementing export strategies;
  • Gaining listings with the major supermarkets;
  • Securing category partnership with major supermarkets;
  • Supporting hundreds of food and drink companies to improve their performance;
  • Developing and delivering supplier development programmes;
  • Lecturer in Marketing at Aberystwyth University;
  • Putting the jokes on Penguin bar wrappers.
