Jacqui Jenkins, Senior Advisor, Education Engagement, at the British Council, spoke about her Erasmus experience during the Cardiff Met Erasmus 30th anniversary celebrations in June 2016.
Studying for a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at Chelsea School of Arts – UAL (1996-99), Jacqui spent time studying overseas in Berlin at Weissensee Kunsthochschule.
Jacqui talked about her life-changing experience in Berlin to an audience including the First Minister of Wales. She said how spending time living and studying in Germany had a positive impact on the way she thought and interacted with others. Her time in Germany has shaped who she has become.
Helga Rother-Simmonds, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, attended the event and was delighted to hear such a success story about a German Erasmus study abroad experience.
Jacqui also demonstrated the invaluable impact the Erasmus programme has had on both Higher Education in the UK, at Cardiff Met in particular, and the individual personal and professional lives of the beneficiaries.
