International students at the Big Pit

It has been a very busy term so far for Cardiff Met's international students! There have been trips, welcome parties and Diwali celebrations, to name just a few of the activities.

International students enjoyed trips to the Big Pit in October, as well as Brecon and the Mumbles to see the beautiful Welsh coast and countryside. In November, international students visited London and at the end of the month there will be an opportunity for international students to visit the Birmingham Christmas Markets.

Cardiff Met's International Student Welcome Party took place in October, which was a roaring success! Students participated in a friend making game; this was a mix between musical chairs and speed dating. The game consisted of being given topics to talk about with the person opposite and then they had to move seats and talk to a new person. Chairs were removed after each round until there were only two students left. The winners won Tesco gift cards and the game was followed by a buffet and disco.

Diwali celebrations at Wales Millennium Centre took place in November. Natalie Buckland, International Student Support Manager, and Priyesh Thar, Manager - Business Development & Support (South Asia Project Office), attended this event with students. Mr Raj Aggarwal, Honorary Consul for India (with jurisdiction for Wales), was also in attendance, and some students had their photograph taken with him.
