Physiological testing for athletes, runners, cyclists and teams
The Sport Physiology Hub at Cardiff Metropolitan University provides laboratory-based and field-based physiological testing for runners, cyclists, triathletes, team-sport athletes and people looking to improve their fitness and performance.
Using research-level equipment and established testing methods, our sport physiologists can measure how your body responds to exercise. Your results can help you understand your current fitness, establish personalised training zones, identify strengths and weaknesses and make more informed decisions about your training.
Our most common sport physiology tests for endurance athletes are listed below. These include VO₂ max testing, lactate threshold testing, running economy and cycling efficiency assessments, and running shoe comparisons.
We can also evaluate training sessions and provide tailored assessments for individual athletes, teams, clubs, coaches and governing bodies.
