Overview
Dr John Macaulay is a Lecturer in Power Electronics at Cardiff School of Technologies. His teaching and research interests focus on the design, modelling, control, and application of power electronic converters, with particular emphasis on renewable energy systems and energy conversion technologies.
His research focuses on the development and implementation of advanced power electronics and control techniques to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and performance of renewable energy generation systems. His research interests also encompass the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to power electronics, particularly in intelligent control, system optimisation, predictive modelling, energy management, and fault detection and diagnosis.
