Transcripts, Certificates and Verification of Awards

Are you a graduate?

Congratulations on your award! Here is some information on how you can obtain your award documents and/or verify your degree.

Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) – for graduates from 2016 onwards

The HEAR is an electronic document which contains the same information as your certificate and transcript. It is free to access and easy to share. If you have activated your HEAR account, you will be able to share your HEAR with future employers and other organisations via the following link: www.gradintel.com. There is lots of further information on the HEAR webpage.

Please note HEARs are currently only available to those students who have studied on campus in Cardiff since 2016. Students at our partner institutions should use the e-store to order documents.

Application Support Service – online transcript verification

Any student who has a transcript from us can request this is sent to a third party in support of an application using our Application Support Service. This is highly successful for WES and other third-party organisations. There is a fee to pay and the service is available via the e-Store.

Physical and Digital Documents on the E-store

A number of physical or electronic documents can be requested via the e-Store. This includes replacement certificates, copies of transcripts, verification of award letters, and programme content documents (course syllabus/handbook).

Cardiff Metropolitan University award documents (both certificates and transcripts) from 1 November 2011 onwards are available at the e-store. Certificates issued by UWIC (e.g. BTEC Certificates and Diplomas from June 1996) can also be requested in this way.

Although many certificates/transcripts/letters can be provided directly by us, there are some exceptions. Here are a few common examples:

Certificates for University of Wales Awards

Prior to 1 November 2011, UWIC degrees were issued by the University of Wales, who therefore issue replacements when necessary. Details and an application form can be obtained from the University of Wales website at the University of Wales webpage.

BTEC Certificates and Diplomas (January 1984 to June 1996)

Replacement certificates are obtainable from Edexcel at the following link:
www.edexcel.org.uk/studying/certificates/vocational/

City & Guilds Certificates

Replacement certificates are obtainable from City & Guilds at the following link: www.cityandguilds.com/

Please note that Cardiff Metropolitan University used to be called UWIC, and was formerly known as Cardiff Institute of Higher Education and South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education. We do not guarantee we hold transcripts or course information from before 1 November 2011. However, we do hold some records and always do our best to provide support.

Our Verification of Awards team will be in touch with you after you place an order on the e-store to discuss your requirements further if necessary.

Are you an employer/agency/third party looking to verify a Cardiff Metropolitan University award?

Thank you for reaching out to check the authenticity of the documents you have received. We use the Higher Education Degree Datacheck (HEDD) online verification service for employers and agencies to verify Cardiff Met awards.

To make an enquiry you need to register with Hedd by visiting the www.hedd.ac.uk. Select ‘Cardiff Metropolitan University’ from the list of UK higher education institutions and choose the option to 'verify a degree award'. There is a charge of £14 per enquiry. You will also be required to upload a consent form.

You’ll need the individual’s name, date of birth, course, and qualification. For graduates, you'll also need their year of graduation and degree result. If you require dates of attendance, please request this at the time of making the enquiry. Support is available from heddhelp@prospects.ac.uk.
