​Welcome and congratulations on being offered a place on a Research programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Whether you are joining us as a full or part-time Research student, we can offer you first-class, unique research opportunities.

We appreciate that you will be juggling a number of work, family and social commitments in addition to your studies and with this in mind our staff will do their best to be as flexible as possible to support you. These web pages have been put together to help you settle in quickly and to help ensure that you get the most out of your time at Cardiff Met.

Enrolment Information

Please note that in order to self enrol your status with Cardiff Met must be Unconditional Firm (UF).

Cardiff Met has three intakes for research students:-

Autumn Term
26th September 2016

Spring Term

16th January 2017

Summer Term
24th April 2017


After enrolment, research students are made Academic Associates who have the status of academic staff. Research students will receive a staff ID card and have access to staff facilities and resources.

Intakes for Professional Doctorates are:

1st November 2016

24th April 2017

Induction and Joining Information

There is a compulsory one day induction programme for newly enrolled students. You will be informed by invitation of your induction date and location by your Director of Studies after you have self-enrolled.

For all School research programmes, please notify your Director of Studies once you have enrolled and a date for induction can then be confirmed.  If not included above, you will also be provided with further joining information.
