​Welcome and congratulations on being offered a place on a Research programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Whether you are joining us as a full or part-time Research student, we can offer you first-class, unique research opportunities.

We appreciate that you will be juggling a number of work, family and social commitments in addition to your studies and with this in mind our staff will do their best to be as flexible as possible to support you. These web pages have been put together to help you settle in quickly and to ensure you get the most out of your time at Cardiff Met.

Enrolment Information

Please click here for enrolment details and a step-by-step guide on how to self enrol. In order to self enrol your status with Cardiff Met must be Unconditional Firm (UF). Following enrolment, research students are made Academic Associates and have the status of academic staff, receiving a staff ID card and access to staff facilities/resources.

For CSAD research programmes, please ensure you have read the joining information in the next section prior to enrolling.

Intakes for research students

  • Autumn Term 25th September 2017
  • Spring Term 22nd January 2018
  • Summer Term 16th April 2018


Intakes for Professional Doctorates

  • 20th November 2017
  • 16th April 2018

Induction and Joining Information


There is a compulsory one day induction programme for students who have recently enrolled onto a research programme.  2017/18 induction dates are:

  • 31st October 2017
  • 26th February 2018
  • 23rd May 2018

All will be held in the Hospitality Suite, School of Management, Llandaff Campus.
