Burts moved into a new manufacturing unit in July 2020 and ZERO2FIVE supported the company to ensure that its design and processes would meet the requirements of SALSA third-party certification.

In preparation for the company’s SALSA audit, a ZERO2FIVE technologist mentored the company, sharing a range of technical knowledge and expertise. ZERO2FIVE supported the company to review and develop a new HACCP Plan and Quality Management System, designed and delivered bespoke training courses and reviewed the company’s production processes and procedures in accordance with good manufacturing practices, legislation and the SALSA standard.

Benefits of the support

With the support of ZERO2FIVE, Burts The Bakers successfully passed their SALSA audit in March 2021. Having this certification has been vital for the company to secure new customers, launch new products, and develop the skills and food safety culture of its workforce.

Charlotte Burt, Operations Director, Burts The Baker said:

“The help and support from ZERO2FIVE has been absolutely invaluable. Over a period of six months, they helped us set-up and initiate all the processes to become SALSA certified. A lot of hard work from both sides has put the business in good stead for future growth.”

“The technologists at ZERO2FIVE are extremely knowledgeable and helpful with a ‘can do’ attitude; nothing was too much trouble. Burts The Bakers are looking at expansion and in doing so we will turn to ZERO2FIVE for further support.”
