Staff Overview

​Dan is a senior lecturer in Strategic Management with over 13 years’ experience of working in Higher Education prior to joining Cardiff School of Management in 2023. Within that time, Dan has been a course leader for Business Top Up courses and the BA (Hons) Business and Management course at his previous institution.

Experienced in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in addition to dissertation supervisions, Dan has also led the validation and revalidation of a number of courses.

Prior to returning to academia, Dan worked at senior management levels within the private and third sectors, developing, co-ordinating and implementing strategic plans.

Teaching

​​Dan has extensive experience in teaching a variety of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

With Strategic Management as his course subject, Dan has taught a variety of strategy-based modules, including Strategic Tools and Techniques, Strategic Management Theories, Business Analysis and Strategic CSR. In addition to these, Dan has also developed modules focusing around Knowledge Management, Ethics and CSR and Social Capital. Outside of strategy, Dan has developed modules around Work Based Learning and led dissertation modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

​​As an active researcher, Dan’s research interests include Governance in the Third Sector (PhD focus), Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Enterprise, Inclusion and Development.

​​2018/19 – Advisor and critical friend to the National Union of Students in the development of their new National Governance Framework (part of the NUS Task and Finish Group)

2014/15 – Worked with local SME’s as part of the Strategic Insights Programme, helping them develop various aspects of strategic management within their organisations.
