The next generation of talent

"As a Future Generations art and design school, our curriculum encourages students to consider the long-term impact of their decisions on people, communities, and ecosystems.

This year we celebrate practice that embodies the Well-being of Future Generations Wales Act — work that addresses, sustainability, social justice, cultural vitality, or environmental responsibility. Whether through material choices, community collaboration, critical enquiry, or speculative vision, we've awarded work that looks beyond today towards a better future.”

Ingrid Murphy, Principal Lecturer in Digital Learning

In Conversation With

In conversation with academics, students across every discipline share the thinking behind their research. From the interior design of prisons and gen-z consumer behaviour to the loss of ancient craftsmanship and greenwashing, it’s a window into the depth, critical thinking, and ambition of our students.

Our podcast gives students the platform to do what great researchers should – talk about their work.

City Centre Takeover

Each year, we bring our degree show to the city. Student work from every programme takes over outdoor billboards for two weeks, placing graduate creativity in real-world context.

It's more than an exhibition. It’s part of our commitment to connect students with the real world, and with the communities and spaces that shape creative practice.

Helen Gregory Memorial Award

The Helen Gregory Memorial Award recognises outstanding artistic achievement in Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art & Design. Established in 1989 to honour the life and creative spirit of Helen Gregory, a former student and gifted artist, the award celebrates originality and ambition in contemporary practice. Alongside the purchase prize, the bursary set up by Helen’s family supports scholarships that enable students to travel or to purchase materials essential to their development. Together, the awards ensure that Helen’s legacy continues to support and inspire Fine Art students today.

We are grateful to the Gregory family for trusting us to preserve Helen’s memory, and to celebrate a life so full of love, positivity, purpose, and creativity. The 2026 Purchase Prize was awarded to Máire Kennan - BA (Hons) Fine Art.
