Why study through the medium of Welsh at Cardiff Met?

  • Welsh will feature prominently in the new curriculum which is to start in Welsh- medium schools and also in English- medium schools in 2022. With an ITE qualification from Cardiff Met University it will be possible to apply for jobs in both sectors, therefore a great opportunity for future jobs especially with the growth of Welsh medium schools.
  • The Welsh ITE community at Cardiff Met is close and we are proud of the support that we provide to our student. Our teaching groups are small and because of this there is support available both academically and in terms of student wellbeing.
  • At Cardiff Met we welcome students with a diverse language background. Each student is given 25 hours to support and refine their language skills to build confidence.
  • Our Pontio group is a new scheme that is especially designed for students who are less confident in their Welsh but who want to strengthen the language and use it in the classroom.
