Quality Enhancement Directorate are delighted to announce the creation of QED PED-R, a Pedagogic Research Group

The group aims to:

  • Build the capacity for pedagogic research in the university
  • Build on best practice of others, and provide mentoring opportunities
  • Increase the impact data available in the university, and provide opportunities for experienced staff to undertake impact evaluations for tracking change
  • Provide opportunities for academic staff at all levels and a range of experiences to engage in pedagogic research, as individuals or within groups

In light of the current situation, and following advice regarding events, the Pedagogic Research Group launch scheduled for 4-7pm on 30th March will be postponed.  The event will be rescheduled soon!

Corony Edwards from Exeter University will facilitate a workshop, drawing on a range of sources to explore four key aspects of successful pedagogic research:

  • The scope, purpose and characteristics of pedagogic (and higher education) research
  • The knowledge and expertise needed to conduct high-quality pedagogic research
  • How pedagogic research expertise can be developed
  • The contextual factors that help or hinder pedagogic research endeavours
It is envisaged that in future, other informal QED PED-R events will take place - where interested staff can disseminate current research either individually or in groups, alternative research practices may be presented, challenges of research projects may be discussed, plus any other issues that may arise.  Please contact Dr Sue Tangney for further information
