Frequently Asked Questions

Print Studio FAQ's

Where are you located?

Print Studio Llandaff is straight down the corridor from the iZone, turn left at the end and we are on the left.

Print Studio Cyncoed is straight down the corridor from Reception, on the right hand side at the end of the Hall of Fame.

Can you print my work?

For A4 and A3 printing (black and white & colour) we advise that you use the self-service machines in the learning centres on either campus. These machines are the same quality as the machines we use in the Print Studio, but are cheaper to use and you can get your work instantly!

Student self-service printing is currently charged at:

A4 Black & White 5p
A3 Black & White 8p

A4 Colour 20p
A3 Colour 25p

With discounts for double-sided printing.

Do you have a price list?

The best thing to do is visit our online store at http://www.printstudiocardiff.co.uk. You can order a lot of our printed products directly from this website and prices will be shown as you browse.

Please give us a call if you need something not listed on the store.

How can I give you my file for printing?

If we confirm that we can print your work, then you can provide your file to us on a USB memory stick.

  1. We advise you save your files in a folder titled, 'Print Studio' to make it easier for us to find. If not, then we would need you to provide us with the exact folder name and location.
  2. Your file must be PDF format only. Please note we can no longer accept Microsoft Office files(Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Publisher) due to formatting errors and missing fonts that occur when we open these filetypes on our PCs. If you are unsure how to save to PDF, you can ask the IT Helpdesk in the Learning Centre.
  3. Your work should be 'print ready' - this means your file is already set to the correct size and resolution that you require. If you are not sure what you require, its best to check with your Tutor before bringing the job in. Any amendments we have to make to your file (including resizing, adding bleed, fixing cut paths, etc) will unfortunately incur an extra cost.
  4. If you want to email us your file, you will still need to pop in to see us to confirm what your requirements are, and so we can advise a price and turnaround time. Any files sent by email will be presumed to be 'print ready'.
