Summer Show

The Cardiff School of Art & Design Degree Show is back again for 2023.

Featuring exhibits from 13 undergraduate programmes, our students’ work will be available at the Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Llandaff campus from 7th to 13th June, 2023. It’s free to visit and open 10:00-18:00 weekdays, and 12:00-16:00 on weekends. Come to explore and interact with:

  • The challenging
  • The diverse
  • The bizarre
  • The curious
  • The bold

The CSAD Degree Show is a showcase of work from final year students from the following undergraduate programmes: Animation, Architecture, Architectural Design & Technology, Artist Designer: Maker, Ceramics, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Communication, Illustration, Interior Design, Photography, Product Design, and Textile Design.

As part of the celebrations for this year’s degree show, a number of events will be happening across Cardiff including private view events, outdoor exhibitions and hands-on workshops where you will be able to throw a pot, design and laser cut a badge, and explore your creativity at our purpose-built studios and workshops.

Fringe Events

As part of the celebrations for this year’s degree show, events will be happening all across Cardiff including public screenings, private view events, outdoor exhibitions and hands-on workshops:


Fashion Design Catwalk Show, Llandaff Campus

Our #CSAD23 celebrations were started in style by our Class of ’23 Fashion Design students. Models took to the runway to showcase the culmination of three years’ exploration in pattern, form and function.


5th to 18th June – City Centre Poster Exhibition

See the two-week outdoor exhibition featuring student work from 13 creative undergraduate courses. Work will be shown across 21 city centre locations from Monday 5th June until Sunday 18th June.


Wednesday 7th June – Opening Night, Llandaff Campus

#CSAD23 officially opens on Wednesday 7th June.


Thursday 8th June @ 17:30 – Animation Screening, Chapter Arts

Our BA (Hons) Animation cohort take to the big screen, showcasing their work at indie arts venue Chapter Arts.


Friday 9th June – Official Launch Event, Llandaff Campus

Dean of School Bethan Gordon will officially open #CSAD23 at 6pm as we invite colleagues from industry and the public to come along to this special event. We will also be hosting a keynote presentation from visiting professor Robert Hopkins who will be sharing details of his work with The Carbon Literacy Project.


Sunday 11th June @ 12pm – Community Day, Llandaff Campus

Join us for our Community Day to experience life as a student in CSAD. Open from 12-4pm, there will be free workshops running until 3.30pm. Activities are suitable for anyone aged 8+ and will include:

  • Throw a pot on the potter’s wheel – prepare clay, learn to control the speed of the wheel, centre the clay and have a go at throwing.
  • Design and laser-cut a badge – design a badge, learn how a laser cutter works, and use it to produce your own badge.
  • Brilliant phone photography – tips and tricks for taking the best phone photographs from one of the Cardiff Open Art School photography tutors.
  • Collaborative painting workshop – learn about mixing colours to create shapes and patterns on your own small painting that will then become part of a giant artwork.

A talk – ‘Pathways to success in Art and Design’ – will be repeated throughout the day and will give attendees insight into careers in the industry, and tours of our facilities and workshops will run all day.
