Cardiff Met recognised nationally for postgraduate employability success

14 May 2026

Cardiff Metropolitan University has won the Postgraduate Employability Award at the Graduate Futures Institute Academic Employability Awards 2026, recognising the University’s innovative approach to preparing international students for the global job market.

A group of four people pose for a photo in front of large display screen. One of them is holding an award in their hands.

The award celebrates the work of Dr Jun Zhang, MSc International Business Management Programme Director, and Naeem Amir, Careers Consultant (International), who have embedded employability throughout the MSc International Business Management programme.

More than 95% of students on the course are international students, many of whom arrive unfamiliar with the UK job recruitment landscape. In response, Jun and Naeem embedded employability skills into the bespoke “Professional Development, Practice and Performance” module to help students build their confidence and experience needed to secure graduate roles.

From weekly sessions on LinkedIn, CV writing and job applications, to virtual work experience and alumni networking events, employability support is woven into the student experience from day one.

Graduate Aishat Oladipo said the course played a key role in launching her career.

“The MSc International Business Management at Cardiff Met was pivotal in shaping my professional trajectory. I truly believe the focus on employability within this course is what sets its graduates apart as I am living evidence.”

Careers Team Manager Ceris Palser said: “I’m incredibly proud of the work that led to this award, which showcases the outstanding partnership between Jun and Naeem and the impact of truly collaborative employability practice.

“This achievement also reflects the commitment of our wider careers and academic community. It simply wouldn’t be possible without the collective effort, expertise and shared focus on delivering the best outcomes for our students.”

Dr Jun Zhang added: “This is excellent recognition for our commitment to enhancing students’ employability skills, so they have the best possible chance of securing professional graduate roles.”
