Cardiff Met encourages fair, sustainable and responsible farming and production by ensuring our suppliers adopt and apply appropriate social and environmentally responsible business practices. The University utilises the Welsh Government approved 'Sustainable Risk Assessment Tool' on all major procurements to help identify environmental risks and opportunities.

E-Procurement

The University has been using electronic tendering for almost 10 years and has a well-established e-procurement ordering process, utilising an e-marketplace that hosts electronic catalogues and facilitates the transmission and receipt of electronic purchase orders and invoices. Implementation of these processes has resulted in a dramatic reduction of the use of hard copy documents and stationary used and consequently reduces the use of postal services.

Sourcing and Supporting Fairtrade

The University has maintained its Fairtrade University accreditation since 2007. The award is achieved through a collaboration between the Students' Union, Procurement, the Catering and Hospitality Team and Sustainability department. As well as selling a wide variety of Fairtrade products on campus, we also run frequent Fairtrade engagement and promotional initiatives for staff and students.
